We are passionate about supporting local and we do so by supporting the community in a variety of ways:
- we source our food, wherever we can, from local vegetable farmers and fishermen.
- our staff are local and you can’t get a friendlier and more helpful team
- we support local crafting and encourage you to buy something unique and lovely when you visit
- we are helping our community with the supply of fresh water and soon will be starting a community vegetable and herb garden.
Alongside the above, we are also conscious and aware of supporting and sustaining the local environment which we are so privileged to share with you. As such we use local craftsmen as much as they are available, local and responsibly sourced supplies and we reuse and recycle where we are able.
In 2017 we will also be boosting our limited power supply (currently a few hours of generator power) with sustainable wind and solar power. This will mean less noise and disruption for the local fauna inhabitant visitors (i.e. monkeys and birds), we do what we can to preserve their natural habitat too.
Our casas are placed throughout the property and we try to disrupt the local indigenous vegetation as little as we can to ensure sustainable preservation of the dune area upon which it sits and to retain local habitat. We hope you’ll join us soon in our little corner of paradise at Tofo Earth Lodge.
We are raising funds in support of the devastation caused by Cyclone Dineo in February 2017 and to encourage donations we are offering free holidays for various donation levels. See more about Cyclone Dineo Relief Fund.
